Matthew Lognion was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana and has deep family roots in both Calcasieu and Jeff Davis Parishes. As a teenager (and throughout college), Matt worked as a manual laborer at Greengate Garden Center in Lake Charles where he learned the importance of honest, hard-work and gained an indelible appreciation and respect for small businesses and the people who keep them running. Matt graduated from LaGrange Senior High School in 2006 and then attended McNeese State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History graduating summa cum laude from the College of Liberal Arts in 2010.

After completing his degree at McNeese, Matt began law school at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University and during his time at LSU was an active participant in the Moot Court Program where he represented LSU at the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Denver, Colorado (2013) and Portland, Oregon (2014) as a member of LSU’s International Law Moot Court Team. He graduated from LSU Law cum laude in 2014. After law school, Matt returned to Lake Charles where he served a one-year term as a federal clerk to Magistrate Judge Kathleen Kay in the Lake Charles Division of U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. He has been in private practice since 2015 and began work with Veron Bice, LLC in 2021.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys good movies, good books, good jokes, good company, and good football games which he only considers good if the Cowboys, the Tigers, or the Saints are winning! He also enjoys making music with family and friends, a skill he learned as a boy and honed even further as a saxophonist in the symphonic and marching bands at F.K. White Middle, LaGrange Senior High, and McNeese State. And it was this love of music and the arts that brought together Matt and his wife, Emily who is now a music teacher at Bell City High School. They met in the band at McNeese, were married in 2014, and now have a son, David. They live in Lake Charles and remain proud to call Southwest Louisiana home.
