It is an unfortunate reality that accidents and tragedies often beget other accidents and tragedies in Louisiana and across the country. These incidents can occur for a wide variety of reasons including a car crash due to a reckless driver. A massive accident that led to the deaths of two people with many more hurt happened amid the flooding that paralyzed parts of Louisiana. This crash occurred shortly after 7 a.m. when a bus filled with construction employees hit a fire truck that was investigating and assisting with a crash that had happened earlier that morning. The bus crashed into the side of the fire truck. The fire truck subsequently crashed into a Toyota Camry. When the accident happened, three firefighters were sent over the guardrail of the road after which they landed in water. It is estimated that they fell between 30 and 40 feet.
A 36-year-old fire chief died. A passenger in the Camry was also killed. Three people who were in the car were injured with one said to be in critical condition. The driver of the bus, a 37-year-old man in the country illegally, faces multiple charges related to the auto accident. Included in the litany of charges are negligent homicide and reckless driving. He did not have a driver’s license. In all, 41 people were taken to the hospital. The other firefighters who fell over the guardrail survived.
With an accident of this magnitude, it can be difficult to sift through the precise details as to how and why it happened. Since the investigation has an idea as to the series of events that led to the catastrophic injuries and deaths, it can be beneficial to a potential legal filing.
