Suspected Drunk Driver Kills Man in Louisiana

On Sunday, March 15, 2020, a suspected drunk driver killed a man in Louisiana. Police responded to the crash scene on LA Highway-70 just a couple of miles east of Highway 70 Spur in Belle Rose. When they got there, they found two cars damaged in the accident. The driver of one of the vehicle had been traveling East on the highway. At the same time, another woman was traveling in the westbound lanes.

Latasha Hicks was the one in the westbound lanes. For some reason, she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line. She crashed into another vehicle head-on. The other car was driven by Brian Gros, a 28-year old man from Pierre Part.

Hicks was taken to the local hospital and suffered only moderate injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery. Unfortunately for her, she may not go home. She may end up being transported to the county jail.

The police suspected that Hicks was impaired when they arrived at the scene. They are waiting for toxicology reports to come back. This is important because Gros, the other driver, was also taken to the hospital. Sadly, he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Hicks could very well be charged with his death. In fact, police confirmed that charges are pending against Hicks. They are just waiting for the toxicology reports to come back.

Gros was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Sadly, with head-on collisions, the injuries are often quite serious. These are some of the most serious types of car accidents. There has been no statement released from the victim’s family. However, they will very likely have a claim against Hicks.
