1 killed, 1 seriously hurt in crash on Christmas Eve

Car accidents don’t always involve more than one vehicle, and even single-vehicle accidents can be deadly. Sometimes, single-vehicle accidents can involve several people and families. When the driver is intoxicated or distracted, he or she could be held accountable for any accident that takes place.

This accident shows the importance of safety when driving. Wearing a seatbelt and making sure to be sober before getting behind the wheel can save lives. If you’re hurt in a crash like this one, your attorney may be able to help you get compensated by the negligent driver.

A tragic accident on Christmas Eve took the life of a woman traveling on LA 308 in Lafourche Parish. According to the news from Christmas day, the woman was riding in a vehicle being driven by another person when the accident took place.

The vehicle reportedly traveled to the right of LA 308 and left the roadway. At that point, the car struck the side of a driveway and caused the vehicle to be airborne. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and had to be treated for moderate injuries. A 34-year-old woman in the front seat was wearing a seatbelt, but faced severe injuries. She was being taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans when she passed away due to the severity of the wounds.

The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab has taken blood from the driver to determine if he was intoxicated at the time of the accident. So far, no results have been released, but if intoxication was present, the man could face charges.
